Role: Senior GenAI Developer – Python / ML (f/m/d) – Remote in Germany

We are:

Talents2Germany is placing this role on behalf of our client — a retail technology company at the forefront of applied AI in Europe. We are looking for a Senior GenAI Developer to help define and drive their artificial intelligence strategy. This is a senior individual-contributor role with significant influence over technology choices, system design, and the practical deployment of AI capabilities into their products.

You will work with a small, highly skilled engineering team and have direct exposure to enterprise clients whose workflows you will be transforming. Our products process and generate German-language content — making both your technical depth and your engagement with the language especially valuable.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement GenAI features — including RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, and LLM integrations — in production
Evaluate, fine-tune, and deploy large language models for domain-specific use cases
Architect robust, scalable AI systems that meet enterprise reliability and compliance requirements
Collaborate with fullstack engineers to embed AI capabilities seamlessly into the product
Stay current with the rapidly evolving GenAI ecosystem and translate new research into practical solutions
Contribute to building a strong AI engineering culture within the team

Must-Have Requirements:

Technical Skills

5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years focused on applied AI/ML
Deep expertise in Python and the modern ML ecosystem (PyTorch, HuggingFace Transformers, etc.)
Hands-on production experience with LLMs, RAG architectures, and vector databases
Strong understanding of MLOps practices: model versioning, deployment, monitoring
Experience with frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar orchestration tools
Solid software engineering fundamentals: clean code, testing, API design

Your profile Work Style & Communication

Excellent communication skills in English; willingness to learn German and to reach a working proficiency level (B2) within 6 months

Highly Desirable:

Experience with multilingual NLP tasks, particularly German-language text
Exposure to enterprise AI deployments or regulated industries
Background in information retrieval, knowledge graphs, or semantic search
Academic background in machine learning, NLP, or computer science

Location / Working Model:

Based in Germany or willing to relocate — occasional travel to Frankfurt (up to 4 days/month)
